Start with the setting

A portable restroom plan feels more complete when people can wash their hands at a convenient point. Handwashing stations are especially useful near outdoor food service, shared event facilities, construction entrances, athletic activities, and any temporary restroom cluster that is not close to a permanent sink.

Plan the route

A station hidden behind a unit or placed far from the food area may be technically present but practically overlooked. Consider the sequence of movement: where people exit the restroom, where food is served, where workers enter the site, and where lines may form. Place the station where it is visible and reachable without blocking an accessible route or creating a bottleneck.

Prepare the placement

For an event, coordinate the station with catering, beverage service, seating, and trash collection. For construction, consider the entrance, break area, and the path workers use most often. Keep the surface around it stable and avoid a location where splashing, rain, or runoff will make the route slippery or muddy.

Keep the plan useful

Share the number of users, event or project duration, food-service details, placement surface, preferred proximity to the restroom area, route constraints, and any accessibility considerations.
